A Successful 2016-2017 Ski Season

As the warm weather sets in, we wanted to nevertheless take a moment to reminisce on winter and extend our deep gratitude to all the Friends who support the Leo J Martin Ski Track. This past winter, the Ski Track enjoyed a successful year that included being home to many recreational adult and youth skiers, master ski racers, high school leagues, youth clubs, adaptive skiers, and Massachusetts qualifying races for the Eastern High Schools. The Track also served as a welcoming venue for many fundraisers, community events and community outings and we remain grateful for all the time and energy that so many dedicated to these efforts.

We are already looking forward to next year. The DCR has indicated that Charles River Recreation will continue to provide grooming and snowmaking operations in 2017-18, ensuring efficient trail maintenance and management. A number of clubhouse renovations are also in store, including improvements to the bathrooms, lower floor, and team room. The lower and first floor also will be made ADA compliant and more windows will be integrated into the room currently used for rentals. In addition, come February, the Ski Track will be host for a weekend to hundreds of youth skiers from throughout New England for the Bill Koch Festival.

As a 501c3 organization, we continue to seek volunteers. Specifically, we are looking for those who are willing to assist us in political outreach, fundraising, and volunteer coordination. We are also seeking members to lead our fall cleanup and help with our annual meeting in December. If you can assist us, please notify us at foljms@gmail.com, noting how you’d like to help.

If you are short of time, but would like to make a donation to our organization, your contributions are tax deductible and always much appreciated. Donate Now
