Results of 2015-2016 Leo J. Martin Ski Facility Survey

At the end of the 2015-2016, the Friends of Leo J Martin Skiing (FOLJMS) conducted a survey to garner user feedback on the winter season at the Leo J. Martin Ski Track. The season was the first year that the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) had managed the facility, following forty years of Weston Ski Track operation by Charles River Canoe and Kayak. The DCR made significant capital investments: an upgraded electrical system; new high-capacity snowmaking guns; grooming equipment (a new Pisten Bully 100); and clubhouse improvements. Operations were supported, in this year's transition, by the former Weston Ski Track operators, with input from FOLJMS. Rentals and instruction also were contracted out to the former Weston Ski Track vendors. The season had its challenges and successes. but overall, user sentiment expressed in the end-of-season survey seemed to suggest a reasonable level of satisfaction with facility operation, despite unseasonably warm temperatures and limited snowfall.Next winter, the DCR will continue running the Leo J. Martin Ski Track. FOLJMS will continue to work with the DCR to ensure a successful season.
